Hongxia Wang’s wearable forms are created with a poetic approach to material. While knowledge of conventional goldsmithing materials and techniques serve as a foundation, the maker’s idiosyncratic approach to craftsmanship brings these conventions into a new aesthetic realm. Intuition is an integral part of Hongxia’s working process. While making, a reciprocal relationship between the hands and the eyes emerges, creating a feedback loop that is hyper-sensitive to texture, form, composition, proportion and volume.
